I Wish I Would Have Said…

When was the last time you were in a conversation and sometime later, after it was over, you had that moment when you said, “I wish I would have said…?” Okay, sometimes what we wish we’d said was probably not a good idea anyway!

But there are times we do wish we’d said things differently. Perhaps our emotions got the better of us and we said things we would like to take back. Perhaps we could have been kinder.

What if we truly sought God before we opened our mouths? What if we only spoke as He directed? We would have no more regrets about what we say.

God talks clearly about our words in scripture.

“A person takes joy in giving an answer; and a timely word–how good that is!” – Proverbs 15:23 (CSB)

“A word spoken at the right time is like gold apples in silver settings” – Proverbs 25:11 (CSB)

“The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary. Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.” – Isaiah 50:4 (ESV)

Can you imagine what it would be like if we all surrendered our tongues to God’s direction? Everytime we opened our mouths someone would be blessed!
